Duchess of Cambridge and sister Pippa make surprise appearance at Sandringham
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have attended church at Sandringham, as they prepare to return to London to start work for the new year.
The Duke and Duchess, who is expecting her third baby in April, walked to St Mary Magdalene church for a Sunday morning service with Prince Philip, greeting the crowds with a wave.
Pippa and James Matthews, the Duchess' sister and brother-in-law, joined the party, along with close friends Lady Laura and James Meade.
Wearing a fur hat and a warm tweed coat by British designer Moloh over her bump, the Duchess smiled broadly at wellwishers as the party walked to the church.
Mrs Matthews, in a distinctive navy hat with star emblem, held hands with her husband. The couple married in May 2017.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte were not in attendance, and did not attend church with members of the Royal Family on Christmas Day.
The Prince is expected to go back to school in Battersea this week, while his two-year-old sister begins nursery.
The Duke and Duchess will also return to work, with the Duke visiting the Royal Marsden Hospital in his capacity of president of the Trust, while the Duchess visits Reach Academy in Feltham as patron of children's mental health charity Place2Be.
