The Duchess of Cambridge turned 40 at the weekend and received millions of birthday messages from people all over the globe, but there was one message she took the time to personally respond to.

Mila Sneddon, who is six, has met the Duchess twice and was keen to send her birthday wishes.

Her mum Lynda shared a video on Twitter where Mila can be seen saying, "Happy Birthday Catherine! I'm so happy you're turning 40, hope you get a nice gift and love spending time with your family. Bye, lots of love, Mila."

And the Duchess took the time to reply from @KensingtonRoyal's official Twitter account, writing: "Thank you Mila!"

The little girl captured Kate’s heart after she was included in Kate’s ‘Hold Still’ project in 2020. Mila was receiving chemotherapy for leukaemia and was pictured kissing the kitchen window of her home after being separated from her father during the first Covid-19 lockdown.

Kate first spoke to Mila over a Zoom call on Autumn 2020, where she promised Mila she would wear a pink dress as soon as they were allowed to meet in person.

Staying true to her word, when Kate was able to meet Mila, in the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh May 2021, she wore a bright pink Me+Em dress.

Mila and her family were also invited to the Duchess’ Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey in December. Mila gave a short reading and was seated behind Kate and William. Mila said, “She asked me what I was getting from Father Christmas and I told her I wanted a Barbie Dreamhouse. I showed her my dress and she said I looked lovely."
