The Duchess of Cambridge has opened up about her experience of parenting in lockdown in a fun video chat with fellow mums and dads.

When asked to write down one word to summarise parenting during the pandemic and hold it up to the camera, Kate chose "exhausting".

Discussing the experience, the duchess said: "As parents, you've got the sort of day to day elements of being a parent but I suppose during lockdown we've had to take on additional roles that perhaps others around us and in our communities or in our lives would have perhaps supported us and helped us with."

Kate went on to reveal that she has even been forced to cut Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis' hair during the current lockdown. "So, you know, I've become a hairdresser this lockdown," she said with a laugh. "Much to my children's horror seeing mummy cutting their hair! We've had to become a teacher and I think I personally feel pulled in so many different directions."

In a sweet moment later during the chat, the duchess paid tribute to husband Prince William and proved what a strong team they are. When asked to reveal who or what has been her biggest support during lockdown, Kate wrote, "William".

Talking about how demanding the pandemic has been for many parents, the duchess said: "This has been really difficult to do for lots of families, not being able to rely on their usual support systems and the schools obviously being locked down, they were a massive support as well to lots of families."

In a light-hearted moment, the royal also revealed that she has been struggling while trying to homeschool her three children in Maths. Kate gave herself a very low score of minus five when rating her Maths skills, saying with a laugh when she saw that the other parents had rated themselves much higher, "Oh my gosh, I'm obviously right at the bottom!"

The Duchess looked stunning as always for this latest video chat, opting for a gorgeous forest green jumper, worn with simple gold accessories.
