The Royal Family certainly isn’t immune to enjoying the festivities London has to offer at Christmas, as the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted in the audience of The Nutcracker on Wednesday.

The trip to the Royal Opera House was not announced by Kensington Palace so royal fans were thrilled to spot the 35-year-old in the audience.

Fans rushed to Twitter to express their surprise, with one social media user writing: “Highlight of today’s Nutcracker was trying to peer through a crack in the scenery to spot Kate Middleton in the crowd.”

The pregnant royal wore a mix of high street and high end fashion to the performance. A Zara cape teamed with a dress by one of her go-to labels, Alexander McQueen.

The Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed the show just hours after attending the Queen’s annual Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace with Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The 35-year-old is expecting her third child in April, 2018.
