Dropped Your Phone In Water? This Works Better Than A Bag Of Rice

We’ve all been there: In slow motion, you see your phone slip out of your hand and into a sink, puddle or other far-too-wet location for a phone.

Our first move after this is usually to put our phone in a bag of rice overnight. This does work, but apparently there’s something even better - cat litter.

Sure, rice absorbs water - it’s how we cook it in around ten minutes, after all. But cat litter is designed to absorb cat wee instantly.

Phone company Gazelle ran some tests and found using cat litter is more effective at reviving damp phones.

They say that it’s best to try shaking all water out of the phone, then putting it in a bag of crystal cat litter for as long as necessary - at least overnight, but ideally for days.

After 48 hours you might want to give up though.
