'I don't think I would pick one at my birthday party...' These stars all suffer from COULROPHOBIA!

Do you know what Coulrophobia is? It's the fear of clowns! It is one of the most common phobias in the world thanks to 'It' monster Pennywise and the real-life horrors committed by John Wayne Gacy, who performed at children's hospitals and charitable events as "Pogo the Clown". Read on to find out which stars have admitted to being terrified of clowns...

'What Women Want' star Sarah Paulson is afraid of many things, including bees, heights, and clowns. One time she visited the set of ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, where the host decided to prank her by bringing a person in a clown costume into the studio. Poor Sarah! Although she shrieked in terror at the time, Sarah later tweeted that it “is funny to me now".

James appeared on ‘Good Morning America’ to talk about his starring role as Bill in horror sequel 'It Chapter Two', which boasts the most frightening horror movie clown, Pennywise. Speaking about how Bill Skarsgard's portrayal of the supernatural clown affected him, James shared: "The guy who plays the clown is terrifying. He's a lovely guy, and yet he really freaked me out. I remember standing there with the rest of the cast, all these adults, and we'd all done weird, freaky stuff. And we are all looking at each other going, 'I don't like being here. I don't like being an actor today.' He really did, he really freaked me out. I never liked clowns as a kid.”

The rapper is reportedly so afraid of clowns that he even has a "‘no clown" clause in his contracts. Combs has several times denied it. However, one time he visited Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show, and she decided to find out whether his coulrophobia was real or not. Combs said that it was “impossible” for her to scare him, “because I’m a black man. I have so many other things to be fearful of – a clown’s not gonna scare me". Only a couple of seconds later, he jumped off his seat and screamed after seeing a person dressed as a clown approaching him!

‘Harry Potter’ star Daniel Radcliffe joins the list of celebrities who do not like clowns, as per Us Weekly magazine. While the film star has not publicly provided any details on his fear, it is clear that he prefers to have fun with a group of magicians, rather than with a group of clowns!

'The Batman' star has a fear of clowns which was caused by a traumatic childhood incident. Pattinson said: “The first time I went to the circus somebody died. One of the clowns died. His little car exploded. The joke car exploded on him. Seriously. Everybody ran out. It was terrifying.”

Jeremy Ray Taylor played Ben in the 2017 adaptation of Stephen King's novel 'It' and the 2019 sequel, two movies that were extra scary for him to shoot because he is terrified of clowns. He said: “I’m still terrified of clowns. But after I started filming a lot of horror things, it kinda opened it up for me. So now I’m a giant fan of horror movies.”

‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ has become one of the fan-favorite TV shows of recent years for depicting some true horror stories. In five episodes, actor John Carroll Lynch (picture) plays terrible killer clown Twisty, a character who is based in real-life killer John Wayne Gacy. In an interview with Collider, Lynch himself described how the whole cast and crew were scared by him, especially as he used to walk in his Twisty costume on set. He said: “There are some people on the crew who are like, ‘I don’t want to be near that.’”

‘Stranger Things’ actor Finn Wolfhard had an interview with VICE, where he talked about his ‘It’ character, Richie Tozier, who has to battle Pennywise. After being asked what his real thoughts on clowns are, Finn answered: “I respect them. I love the work ethic. It's a personal preference, but I don't think I would pick one at my birthday party, and other kids maybe would. It's just not my thing. I'd like to give a formal apology to the clown union if we gave them a bad rep in It. If clowns weren't around this movie wouldn't exist, so thank you clowns.”

'Pirates of the Caribbean’ star Johnny Depp has coulrophobia. Talking about his fear of clowns while promoting his film ‘Sleepy Hollow’, he said: "Something about the painted face, the fake smile. There always seemed to be a darkness lurking just under the surface, a potential for real evil."

To give this list a slight spin, we have ‘Scream’ actor David Arquette, who is not afraid of clowns, but quite the opposite. Speaking on ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan’, the actor revealed he is a big clown fan. David said: "I love clowns. I've been in sort of a clown period of my life. I'm studying to be a clown. I'm working with an amazing organization called Healthy Humor. They go into hospitals and entertain people that are going through a tough time and make them smile and bring some joy and love and laughter into their lives."
