It's the year of Dolly Parton. She funded a life-saving coronavirus vaccine and is being considered for the Presidential Medal of Freedom, but Parton is adding one more title this year alongside hero and icon: beauty entrepreneur. Her new perfume, called Dolly Scent From Above, will launch during the Super Bowl.
Parton wrote a remix to her classic hit '9 to 5' called '5 to 9' for the above Squarespace commercial, which will air during the third quarter of the game on Sunday. You can catch a glimpse of the perfume bottle on the back of the magazine with Parton's face on it during the ad. After the ad airs on Sunday night, $10 deluxe samples of the new fragrance will be available to shop in the US on dollyfragrance.com, with a credit going towards the full bottle when it launches this summer.
'I’ve been lucky enough in my lifetime to see a lot of my dreams come true. Getting to share my perfume with the world is another one that I can now add to the list,' she told WWD. 'I have often said that if you want to see your dreams come true, you have to give them wings, and I truly believe this one is scent from above.'
The Scent From Above bottle is a faceted cube filled with pink juice and capped off with a crystal butterfly, one of Parton's favourite motifs. 'Butterflies are my symbol. As a child, I used to get lost chasing them and got my butt whipped for wandering too far off,' Parton told USA Today back in 2016. 'So we have butterflies everywhere,' she added, referring to the entrance and signage of her theme park Dollywood. So it only makes sense that Dolly's perfume bottle would be covered in butterflies, too.
