'Doctor Who' fans aren't ready to say goodbye to Jodie Whittaker as 13th Time Lord

Doctor Who fans have been sharing their sadness at seeing Jodie Whittaker reach the end of her starring role, saying she was just getting into the swing of things.

Whittaker is the first woman ever to have been cast in the role of the Doctor and viewers of the BBC One sci-fi series said they would have liked to see what she could have done with a longer time at the helm.

The 13th season of Doctor Who ended on Sunday night after a six-episode run of story Flux, which also sees the departure of writer Chris Chibnall - but Whittaker will return for some festive episodes over Christmas and New Year.

One viewer tweeted: "I'm never ready to say goodbye to the Doctor. Jodie Whittaker was such a joy! She personified Doctor Who perfectly! I'll miss her so much!"

Someone else added: "I cannot believe this season is over. God it was amazing. Jodie was fantastic. I truly enjoyed it. These 6 weeks kept me on the edge of my seat. I finally felt like she was the Doctor."

Another viewer shared similar feelings: "Overall, I really loved #DoctorWhoFlux

as a whole. Brilliant acting from Jodie. Great to see so many monsters back and feel dangerous. But I wish there was more—more time to explore threads of each story, more time with Kate and companions, and more time with Jodie."

Many of the show's fans agreed that they would have liked to have seen Whittaker stick around for longer.

One person tweeted: "I'm really going to miss Jodie Whittaker's Doctor when she regenerates next year. I think she hit her stride this season, such a shame she's got three episodes left."

Someone else added: "I liked Doctor Who. It’s a hot mess but what finale isn’t? Jodie Whittaker is really in her groove as the Doctor and it makes me sad there is only three more appearances for her."

Another Whittaker fan agreed: "I do not want Jodie Whittaker to leave Doctor Who! She was such a good Doctor! Actually one of my favorites! Please change your mind and stay!!! We haven't seen enough of you yet!!!"
