Doctor Who, Peppa Pig and Thunderbirds voice actor dies: 'His talent brought joy to generations'
Veteran voice actor and star David Graham has passed away at the ripe age of 99. He was famed for bringing to life Grandpa Pig in the beloved children's series Peppa Pig and voicing the dutiful Aloysius Parker in the classic 1960s show Thunderbirds, as well as featuring in its movie sequels. The talented actor also lent his distinctive sound to the menacing Daleks in Doctor Who during the 60s and 70s. David's memorable character in Peppa Pig saw him play the husband to Granny Pig as well as being the father to Mummy Pig and Uncle to Aunt Dottie.
Before he became the fearsome voice of Doctor Who's ultimate foes on TV, David initially graced screens in acting roles, but it was ultimately his chilling vocal performance that won him fame. Reflecting on his Dalek role in a chat with the Mirror back in 2015, he revealed: "I created it with Peter Hawkins, another voice actor." Together they added a staccato delivery, later enhanced by a synthesiser for an extra eerie effect, reports the Mirror.
For Thunderbirds, Graham was not only the voice behind the loyal Parker but also voiced pilot Gordon Tracy and the brilliant engineer, Brains, throughout the mid-60s. In a delightful turn of events, David returned to his role of Parker when Thunderbirds was revived as Thunderbirds Are Go! in 2015, proudly being the sole original cast member to come back. Overjoyed at the opportunity, he exclaimed: "I am triple chuffed to be on board the new series... and reprising my role of dear old Parker with such a distinguished cast."
