Doctor Who directors detail new "church-like" TARDIS interior
Doctor Who is embarking on a new era, with a new Doctor (well, a returning one and then a new one), a new showrunner (okay, it's Russell T Davies again) and a huge increase in budget from a Disney+ distribution deal.
That means that we are getting a brand-new TARDIS interior, and we are hoping that it looks better than ever thanks to that bigger budget.
While the new TARDIS design is being kept under wraps for now, three directors working on the show have teased what we can expect in the latest Doctor Who Magazine.

"Oh my gosh, it's enormous. I mean, it's absolutely beautiful," Chanya Button teased. "It's sort of church-like in scale, and yet it's also this intimate space that takes you from one place to another – to even larger, wider worlds."
A returning director, Rachel Talalay added that the TARDIS took a whopping four months to build.
"My [director of photography] and I were having all these conversations about how to light the wall roundels, and things like that, but I just kept thinking: 'It will never be ready in time…' So the fact that, in the last couple of days of my contract, we finally got on there, was amazing."

"So much detail and love and thought has gone into it," Tom Kingsley added. "You can point the camera anywhere at it and it looks amazing."
We don't know how long Russell T Davies intends to remain as showrunner this time around, but we hope that he gets to finally get Edgar Wright in to direct an episode.
Doctor Who returns later in 2023 on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Meanwhile, in the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max. Classic Doctor Who streams on BritBox in the UK.
