Communication is essential in any relationship. And that's especially true in the bedroom. After all, if you don't have good sexual communication, you could end up faking orgasms for ten years. Just ask DJ Envy's wife Gia Casey.

The Breakfast Club host and his wife are baring all in a new book titled Real Life, Real Love: Life Lessons on Joy, Pain & the Magic That Holds Us Together, which was released on April 19. In an interview with The Shade Room about the book's release, the couple discussed a particular chapter titled "Faking It In A Real Relationship." In that portion of the book, the couple reveals the fact that Casey faked orgasms for a full decade of the couple's relationship.

DJ Envy and Casey, who are high school sweethearts and married two decades ago, said the revelation happened ten years into their relationship.

"I'm sure so many women can relate: You want to reward that man for that work," Casey told The Shade Room. "And the only reward you have to offer is an orgasm. But even if I didn't feel it, I would still be performative. So yes, I was faking it."

Casey says that her husband was "doing everything a man could do" to please her, but ultimately she didn't know her own body to communicate her physical needs during sex. Ultimately, the unsatisfying conversation came up at the worst time possible: during an argument while being intimate.

"We got into an argument, and she was like, 'Well, you know, I don't be having an orgasm,'" DJ Envy said during the interview. "She didn't say it like that, she speaks way more eloquent than I would ever. And I was like, 'What?' And she was like, 'I don't.' And I was like, 'No. Yes you do, I hear it.'"

He adds, "She was like, 'I'm faking it.' I'm like, 'Every time?' And she was like 'Yeah.'"

If you think that would be a blast to the ego, you'd be right. DJ Envy said the revelation "crushed him."

"It hurt me because I thought I was pleasing my wife," he said. "You hear all these stories about women talking to their girlfriend like, 'Oh girl, he was so short. Oh girl, he ain't doin' nothin'' and I feel like they laughing—and now I feel like that's what my wife is doing."

Casey says she "weaponised" the fact that she wasn't sexually satisfied during their argument to hurt Envy, adding that she believes it's part of why her husband was famously unfaithful in their marriage. In 2012, DJ Envy admitted to cheating on his wife after she found a blog by a woman who alleged she had an affair with the radio personality. DJ Envy's infidelity culminated in a very public cheating scandal with ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’ star Erica Mena back in 2018.

"Me doing that was very detrimental and it put into effect the fall of a series of dominoes that hurt our relationship in the absolute worst way," Casey said in the interview. "It was actually one of the reasons why he cheated."

Needless to say, there is a lot to unpack here. And that's only one chapter of the couple's book. Good luck, readers.
