Now more than ever we’re open to new ways of staying in contact with friends and family, so that’s why Disney+ GroupWatch really couldn’t come at a better time.

While we can’t invite our friends over to enjoy the latest binge-worthy series with a glass of wine or scoff down popcorn while watching a movie at the cinema, Disney+ has launched a welcome new feature that lets you watch movies and shows in real-time with your friends and family.

The feature is called GroupWatch and it allows up to seven people, including the host, to watch all that wonderful Disney+ content together in a synced playback experience while sharing your reactions in real time.

Viewers can react in real time with six different emojis - like, funny, sad, angry, scared and surprised through the Disney+ app.

And the synchronised playback also lets you pause for the whole group whenever you want. So if you all decide you want to nip to the kitchen for another drink or snacks, or you want to rewind to watch a favourite scene all over again, or fast forward to your favourite scene, you’ll be doing it for the entire group.

Everyone will need to be signed up to Disney+ to access the feature, which you can find on the details page of series and movies showcasing the hefty Disney+ library (there are currently more than 500 films and 350 TV shows to choose from).

They'll then be given a link to invite up to six other people to watch with them (Disney+ subscription required). The invitations have to come from your mobile or web, but you can then watch from your connected TV device or Smart TV.

BRB, just off to watch Hamilton with the whole fam.
