Disgusting pervert handed lengthy jail sentence after police sting operation
A PEDOPHILE has been sent to jail for more than six years after being caught by a police sting.
Wayne Jackson, 48, was sentenced on Monday after being caught communicating sexually with what he believed to be a 12-year-old girl called ‘Izzy’.
Prosecuting, Stella Hayden detailed how, in actual fact, ‘Izzy’ was a police officer posing as a child.
From December 2021 to March 2022, Jackson exchanged hundreds of inappropriate messages with what he believed to be a 12-year-old child.
Meeting on an online chat site before transitioning to ‘Kik messenger’, the 48-year-old predominantly messaged under the username ‘Daddy 4 U’.
Jackson was sentenced on three charges, all of which he was found guilty of by a jury. These charges were: “Attempted sexual communications with a child, attempt to cause a child to engage in sexual activity, and attempt to cause a child to watch sexual activity”.
As well as sending the ‘child’ pictures of his penis, and requesting pictures back on numerous occasions, Jackson also sent vile pornography for her to watch.
The final count, attempt to cause a child to engage in sexual activity, involved making demands of ‘Izzy’ too graphic for us to detail. These demands contributed in large part to the size of the sentence.
The 48-year-old, from Attlee Avenue in Culcheth, was caught after police tracked his IP address and connected his messaging account to his TalkTalk account.
Judge Recorder Peter Atherton, presiding over the case, said that the messages described were ‘only a handful, out of hundreds of inappropriate messages over the course of three months.’
He pointed out one particularly malicious message, in which the paedophile encouraged ‘Izzy’ to hide her messages from her parents.
Recorder Atherton also detailed Jackson’s extensive criminal record. The Culcheth man has been convicted of 26 separate offences on 17 separate occasions, covering mostly dishonesty, drugs, and anti-social behaviour, most recently battery in 2018.
Guidance has changed recently regarding cases involving ‘fake’ children such as ‘pedo hunters’ and the police.
Sentences are now handed out assuming the child is real, as the defendant assumed, and the fact there was not a real child is offered as a small mitigation. Previously it would see defendants receive a significant reduction.
Recorder Atherton sentenced Jackson to six and a half years in jail for the charge of attempt to cause a child to engage in sexual activity. He also received concurrent sentences for the other charges, 14 months for attempted sexual communications with a child, and 22 months for attempt to cause a child to watch sexual activity.
He was also handed a sexual harm prevention order, and will face notification requirements for the rest of his life.
