Restaurants and the hospitality industry have been hit hard by lockdown measures, and many have introduced delivery services to help them survive.

Let’s face it, we’re all getting tired of our own cooking after countless weeks into being stuck at home, and a takeaway satisfies our cravings for flavoursome food from our favourite eateries.

Some, such a Patty & Bun and Pizza Pilgrims, have created DIY kits to allow you to recreate dishes in your kitchen.

However, if you’re feeling lazy or simply looking for a fine dining experience from a more upmarket restaurant, many have now started doing food delivery or collection. You may have even planned to visit before lockdown scuppered your plans, so now is your chance to enjoy it from home.

It’s perfect for date nights and celebrating special occasions like a birthday or anniversary.

From across the UK, ahead are eight places we can’t wait to put an order in with.

You can trust our independent round-ups. We may earn commission from some of the retailers, but we never allow this to influence selections. This revenue helps us to fund journalism across The Independent.

The Harwood Arms

London's only Michelin-star pub, has created The Harwood Arms Roast Box so you can recreate its famous roast dinners at home.

One box for two costs £70 and includes a 500g piece of sirloin, a bone marrow and braised beef sauce, part-cooked potatoes with beef fat, hay-baked carrots, greens and Yorkshire puddings, all in their own containers.

All you need to do is pop it into the oven and serve up, but each box does come with instructions too if you need them. It's available to order from 13 June here.

Jamavar

From 18 June, Mayfair Indian restaurant Jamavar is launching a new delivery menu called "The Royal Kitchen".

It's a five-course menu, made up of a selection of its signature dishes from northern and southern India, costing £90. Plates include adraki lamb chops, Old Delhi butter chicken, saag paneer and freshly baked breads.

There's also the option for bespoke cocktail pairing for £50, to make your takeaway feel extra special. You can place an order through the Supper app or pre-order from its website now.

Hakkasan

For a much fancier Chinese takeaway to whet your appetite, Hakkasan is available for delivery in London.

There is a catch however, as it’s only available to order through the Deliveroo and Supper apps within two miles of the City of London and Mayfair locations.

You can also arrange to pick up your dinner from its Mayfair restaurant or from Yauatcha City, its sister venue that also serves high-end Chinese cuisine.

Treat yourself to dishes such as black truffle roasted duck, its signature Hakka noodles, dim sum and grilled Chilean sea bass in honey.

Nobu London

On Deliveroo and Supper you’ll also find Nobu London, available for delivery from its Old Park Lane location.

From sashimi, black cod miso and Wagyu beef steak to sake and champagne, its menu features a host of Japanese dishes that will make a change from all the pasta we’ve been eating.

It is pricey, however, with some main dishes costing upwards of £40, so we’d suggest saving this for a special occasion.

12:51

Fried chicken lovers, you're in luck, as James Cochran, winner of the Great British menu, has expanded his co-owned restaurant 12:51 to now offer home delivery seven days a week, with a new service called Around The Cluck.

While its Islington eatery remains closed for customers, it’s offering pickup and delivery for north, east and central London addresses in a 3.5 radius via the Deliveroo and Uber Eats apps.

The signature fried pieces and crispy wings paired with roast gravy mayonnaise are not to be missed, and for vegetarians, we’d recommend the cauliflower cheeseburger in golden breadcrumbs with butter pickles.

Six By Nico

Arriving in London in January 2020, innovative restaurant Six By Nico also has sites in Glasgow, Belfast, Liverpool and Manchester.

It offers a six-course tasting menu that centres around a location, memory or experience, and changes every six weeks.

It’s recently launched its Home By Nico series, to bring its dining experience to your dinner table. It opens pre-orders every Friday, available only through email, and costs £50 for two people or £80 for four, offering four courses and a bottle of wine.

Currently, it is offering delivery (within a five mile radius) and collection from its Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast venues and in Manchester and Liverpool, it is operating a collection only service. Delivery costs £3.

Dishoom

Everyone’s favourite Indian restaurant Dishoom has also begun offering home delivery, which means you can enjoy its signature dishes at home – something we could have all done with pre-lockdown before queueing for a table.

Available from its King’s Cross, Shoreditch and Kensington branches, through the new Dishoom to Your Door service on the Deliveroo app, you can enjoy your favourite dishes without leaving the house.

We’ll be ordering its chilli chicken and keema pau, biryanis, chicken ruby and mattar panee.
