Forget the Oxford Street light switch-on or Selfridge’s now-famous window displays, Londoners really know the festive season is beckoning when the Claridge’s Christmas tree is unveiled.

This year, the Mayfair hotel enlisted the help of fashion icon Diane Von Furstenberg and the 71-year-old has treated the capital to ‘The Tree of Love’.

According to the Belgian-American designer, the festive tree celebrates “all aspects of love and life”, as she revealed: “Claridge’s is my favourite hotel in the world and my home in London.”

Though fashion enthusiasts will know that this isn’t von Furstenberg’s first foray into design, as she famously put a stamp on a series of suites for Claridge’s back in 2010.

The icon had some pretty impressive shoes to fill, as previous tree designers have included John Galliano, Christopher Bailey, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
