Excellent news for fans of cult hit Desperate Housewives because the ladies of Wisteria Lane could be making a big comeback for 2022...

Following the reboot of Sex And The City last year, the ABC classic may be the latest series heading for a revival. Or, at least, that's what the internet is hoping after the US TV channel shared a very intriguing post on the show's official social media account on New Year's Eve.

Alongside a vintage snap of the cast taken back in the show's heyday, ABC tweeted: "*Desperately* waiting for 2022."

Unsurprisingly, fans went wild, with the post leading the speculation that Desperate Housewives could be returning to our screens for its 10-year-anniversary, after coming to an end back in 2012.

The comedy-drama ran for eight seasons after launching back in 2004, and made household names out of its four central stars, Teri Hatcher (Susan Meyer), Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis), Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman) and Bree Van de Kamp (Marcia Cross).

While nothing has been confirmed so far, Eva Longoria revealed back in October 2021 that she has spoken to show creator Marc Cherry about a possible revival, saying she'd be "the first to sign up".

"I feel like he [Marc] just felt like it’s run its course but, I always talk to Marc," Eva told Radio Times. "I was actually talking to him the other day and we both just think there’s so much more to do there and I would be the first to sign up if he did anything."
