Designer Creates World's First AI-Generated And 3D-Printed Shoe
The world's first fully AI-designed and 3D-printed shoe has been unveiled. Created by 25-year-old entrepreneur Ben Weiss, Syntilay is a slide-type sandal available in a range of colours. The design process began with Midjourney AI generating the shape, followed by an artist refining the concept, which was then modelled in 3D using Vizcom AI. Generative AI added intricate patterns, resulting in a unique and futuristic product. Customers can scan their feet using a smartphone for a tailored fit, even for mismatched sizes, with each pair priced at $149.99. Industry legend Joe Foster, the 89-year-old co-founder of Reebok, has partnered with Weiss to bring the product to market. Foster, who turned Reebok into a $4 billion brand, plans to help 3D-print an initial batch of a few thousand pairs to establish Syntilay's presence. Their long-term goal includes creating custom designs for content creators and brands to sell under their own labels.
