When formulating her debut brand PillowtalkDerm Skincare, New York dermatologist Shereene Idriss enlisted cosmetic chemists, branding experts, and 100 of her closest 443,000 Instagram followers to help. “I put a call out on my Instagram casually and we had over 600 applications," she tells BAZAAR.com. "They each submitted a testimonial saying why they thought they should be part of the creation and submitted pictures of their skin. Then we had a #PillowtalkDerm Zoom PJ party with the whole group. It was so fun.”

When Idriss finally launched the skincare brand back in September with a two-day pre-sale, the line sold out in 36 hours. And to her surprise, she was left with a 17,000-person waiting list. Now, two months after the launch, the dermatologist is bringing back the best-selling line for PillowtalkDerm Skincare fans who missed out on the first drop.

“I want people to use these products and see a difference—both physically and emotionally,” Idriss says. “I just did an Instagram Live makeup-free and I want more customers to, hopefully, feel confident enough to do the same by using PillowTalkDerm."

Though it sold out quickly. PillowtalkDerm Skincare has been decades in the making, Idriss explains. “I'm a cosmetic dermatologist; I deal with different faces and different budgets all day long," she says. "What I've noticed gives patients the biggest bang for their buck regardless of their skincare goals is evening out their skin tone, and unless you're living in a dark cave, chances are you have some form of discolorations. I am mentally exhausted by the 10 or 11-step routines." With PillowtalkDerm Skincare, results come in three simple steps.

With a focus on brightening and evening complexions, the first collection is called Major Fade, which includes a three step pigment-fighting system. First: Flash Mask, an resurfacing mask with a trifecta of glycolic acid, lactic acid, and tranexamic acid; second, the Hyper Serum, a brightening serum that fades discoloration with alpha arbutin, kojic acid, and niacinamide; lastly, the Active Seal, which boasts vitamin C and other brighteners to lock in the pigment reducers and prevent future dark spots. Each product also contains glycerin to keep your skin hydrated and the barrier healthy. The result is an instant glow with more results over time.

The brand name was taken from Idriss’s Instagram handle, @PillowtalkDerm. The nickname came about because the derm would share valuable skincare advice at night from the comfort of her own bed. “My pillow talks started on a whim—there was no premeditation,” she explains. “I started posting stories, and one follower said, I love these pillow talks, and I thought it was cute. I started hashtagging #PillowtalkDerm and thought it was only going to last two weeks. Four years later and I’m still doing pillow talks.”

The PillowTalkDerm Major Fade Solution System is available for pre-order now at pillowtalkderm.com.
