Demi Lovato's ex-fiancé Max Ehrich says he found out about the split in the press

News of Demi Lovato and Max Ehrich's engagement falling apart first broke last week, when a report claimed the singer had called things off two months after becoming a fiancée. Now, The Young And The Reckless actor Max is claiming he only found out about the split online. Eek.

If you need a rewind, Demi and Max announced their engagement after four months together in July, which a series of loved-up Instagram posts. But a report from PEOPLE on Wednesday [25 September] claimed 28-year-old singer Demi and 29-year-old actor Max have called time on their relationship for good.

A source said, "It was a tough decision, but Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers. They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together."

Now, Max has taken to Instagram Stories to reveal he was totally blind-sided by the split, and found out online. "Imagine finding out about the status of your relationship through a tabloid," he wrote in a now deleted Instagram Story.



He later shared another one, which said, "I was on the set of my new movie, Southern Gospel, with crew and cast members right next to me who literally watched me open my phone where I then opened a tabloid.

"This is the God's honest truth of how I found out about the ending of the engagement and have people from my film who saw the whole thing go down and helped me get back into character to continue my job. I had cast and crew with families relying on me to do my job."

Max continued, "That being said, please end this narrative and focus on other more important issues in the world. I love and forgive everyone involved. Let us be. Let us heal. God bless."

So far, Demi hasn't commented on the end of her engagement, but both parties have deleted all traces of each other from social media. Eek.
