'Delicious' slow cooker sticky toffee pudding recipe with only five minute effort
Food is a very important part of the cold and dark season, making sure you stay warm from the inside.
To combat those winter blues, food creator Bored of Lunch showed off a simple dessert recipe which can be made entirely in a slow cooker. Nathan Anthony, the mastermind behind Bored of Lunch, has been sharing a plethora of slow cooker recipes during the chilly season.
He’s proved that slow cookers don’t have to be used for savoury meals, but that you can whip up a delectable dessert in the energy-saving appliance. In a TikTok video from last year, Nathan rustled up one of the UK’s most popular puddings: a sticky toffee pudding.

If you find yourself short of time, the recipe can be thrown together all in the slow cooker and left to its own devices. Nathan’s recipe boasted a quick ‘hands on’ time of just five minutes.
He wrote: “Slowcooker Sticky Toffee Pudding. Pudding in a slowcooker? The most delicious, moist sponge made with 5 minutes hands on time."
Nathan’s video racked up an impressive 689,900 views, as well as 17,000 likes and 97 comments. Dessert fans praised the creator for his quick and simple pud, with Grace saying: “Sticky toffee pudding is my fav.”
Victoria agreed, “It’s so good y'all,” while Logan commented, “Made this tonight! was mean!” Christine wrote: “Looks Delicious I love sticky toffee pudding.”
So if you’re looking for a minimal fuss, no frills dessert which will please the masses, this is what you’ll need to complete Nathan’s winter warming pudding.
Slow cooker sticky toffee pudding
Ingredients
Sponge
200g pitted dates steeped in 150ml of boiling water
100g unsalted butter
3 tbsp treacle
200g self raising flour
170g dark muscovado sugar
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla (optional)
Sticky Toffee Sauce
100g dark muscovado sugar
100g butter
170ml double cream
Method
Steep the dates in the boiling water for 30 minutes. Once the time is up, mash the dates with a fork.
Add the dates to a bowl, before adding in the remaining sponge ingredients. Add to a greased slow cooker and cook on high for two to two and a half hours. Or if you want to cook on a low temperature, cook for five hours.
Once the pudding is nearly done, it’s time to make the toffee sauce. To make, add all of the ingredients into a saucepan at low heat and cook for two minutes until thickened.
Once the done, drizzle over the sponge keeping some for the bowls. Serve and enjoy!
