We are truly living in the future and Swiss activewear innovator On's latest launch has only solidified the fact.

The brand recently announced the development of its LightSpray technology, in which they have combined state-of-the-art robotics with game-changing new material development to create the lightest running trainer the brand's ever made at just 170g.

In just three minutes a robotic arm sprays 1.5km of filament to create a lighter-than-air one-piece upper with no seams, laces or even glue to weigh you down as you run.

Despite its lightweight composition, the LightSpray upper was developed to still provide ample support for the foot, adapting to the movement of the wearer and their needs as a racer.

'LightSprayTM marks a significant milestone for On, not only in creating high-performance products but also the potential it has to move us towards a more sustainable, circular future.' said Marc Maurer, Co-CEO of On.

The innovative new process resulted in a 75 per cent reduction in carbon emissions compared to On's other racing shoes. The actual spray-on upper is made using Double Helion™ HF hyper foam, which is 40 per cent bio-based, further reducing waste.

In terms of success, the results speak for themselves. Kenyan champion runner Hellen Obiri will wear a pair of CloudBoom Strike LS trainers as she competes for gold at this year's

Paris Olympics.

Obiri recently won her second Boston Marathon sporting a pair of development CloudBoom Strike LS.
