Deborah James was "blown away" after Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge sent her a message of support on social media.

The writer and You, Me & the Big C podcast host took to Instagram earlier this week to share that she was getting hospice care at home as her "body can't continue anymore" following a six-year battle with bowel cancer.

Upon the sad news, William and Catherine issued a message via their Twitter page in which they sent Deborah an emotional message and revealed they had made a donation to her Bowelbabe Fund to raise money for cancer research.

"Every now and then, someone captures the heart of the nation with their zest for life & tenacious desire to give back to society. @bowelbabe is one of those special people. Her tireless efforts to raise awareness of bowel cancer & end the stigma of treatment are inspiring," the royal couple commented. "We are so sad to hear her recent update but pleased to support the @bowelbabef, which will benefit the @royalmarsdenNHS among others. Deborah, our thoughts are with you, your family and your friends. Thank you for giving hope to so many who are living with cancer. W & C."

In response, Deborah, 40, re-shared the post on Instagram Stories and added: "Blown away by this."

Since launching, the Bowelbabe Fund has received over £3.4 million in donations.
