Death in Paradise's Kris Marshall wants four-detective twist for Beyond Paradise
Kris Marshall has got some big ideas for the Death in Paradise universe.
Fans will see the actor reprise his role as DI Humphrey Goodman in spin-off series Beyond Paradise tomorrow night (February 24), where he'll be tackling crime in the sleepy Devon town of Shipton Abbott.
But Marshall hasn't ruled out the idea of crossing back over to the parent show in the future, as he told press: "I would say there's always a possibility of something like that!"
He's also up for seeing a multi-detective twist, in which all four Death in Paradise DIs – including Humphrey, Richard Poole (Ben Miller), Jack Mooney (Ardal O’Hanlan) and Neville Parker (Ralf Little) – team up for a case in the spin-off.
"I'd love to bring them all back, really, for different reasons! I had such a wonderful time," he shared. "I think it'd be awesome to have all four detectives in one show or one episode together, as a meta thing where their worlds collide."
Of course, Ben Miller's DI Richard Poole died at the start of the third series. But he did appear for a cameo a couple of years ago as a ghost/vision, so anything is possible…
Marshall went on to talk about some other characters he'd like to worth with again, saying: "I would love to see Dwayne (Danny John-Jules). I think Humphrey and Dwayne had a wonderful relationship together.
"Humphrey [also] always had a really interesting and complex but ultimately fulfilling relationship with the Commissioner, played by the marvellous Don Warrington.
"It's probably best that the girls don't come back, for complicated issues! Not so much Florence (Joséphine Jobert) but Camille (Sara Martins) definitely. I'm joking, of course! I'd love them all back. I had a wonderful time with those guys."
Beyond Paradise launches on Friday, February 24 at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Death in Paradise series 12 airs on Friday nights on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer
