Dead to Me fans have a theory Jen in season 3

Since the third season of the Netflix hit, Dead to Me dropped on the streaming service last week, superfans have been throwing around a few theories about *that* ending. ICYMI, Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini's much-loved characters returned to our screens with a bang, and in true Judy and Jen style, they dealt with plenty of dramas over the ten episodes.

From trying to cover up Steve Wood's murder (Judy's ex) to dealing with her terminal cancer diagnosis, the show was left on a cliffhanger, much to fans' dismay. It saw Jen driving back from Mexico alone (with just the cat for company), and finally ending back at her home, where she and Ben were living with their new baby and Jen's older sons. But this wasn't enough for viewers, who took to Twitter to suggest that Judy hadn't actually died - it was all a dream while Jen was in a coma after being injured in a hit-and-run.

Whether this theory is to do with the fact that Judy not being around anymore is simply too hard to handle, Liz Feldman, the creator of the show did reveal that she purposefully "left it ambiguous." Speaking to TVLine, she said: "I want people to project their own ending onto it. I didn’t spell out the ending,"

So of course, that's what they did. Taking to the social media platform, plenty of fans joined in on the theory, with one viewer writing: "Breaking news: season 3 of Dead to Me was all a dream Jen had while in a coma of things she didn’t want to happen (to lose Judy and be with Ben/raise his child). She is now out of the hospital and her and Judy are living it up together in Mexico."

Someone else hypothesised this idea, writing: "What if Judy isn’t really dead but Jen believes she is hence the show being called Dead to ME…. or?" as someone else replied with: "Pretty sure that she just sailed on that little boat far far away and she’s living somewhere happy and healthy."

But due to the fact that we'll literally never know - season 3 was the third and final instalment - it looks like these theories will stay as just that - theories.

Dead to Me is now streaming on Netflix.
