David Walliams is writing a new TV series with Matt Lucas.

The duo co-wrote and co-starred in the hugely successful comedy series Little Britain from 2003 to 2007, playing a variety of comical characters including Vicky Pollard, Daffyd Thomas, Lou and Andy, and Bubbles DeVere.

They last worked together on the sketch show Come Fly With Me, which aired in 2010 and ran for just one series.

During an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, Walliams revealed he's reuniting with Lucas and the pair will be working together once again.

"Yes I’d like to. Me and Matt are meeting up and talking about projects. We took my mum out for dinner. We are discussing projects. We just have an idea of something we want to do," he explained.

"The idea – where we play lots of different characters, which is, you know, something people expect from us. So we’re just going to start writing it, and if we feel it’s good and we want to share it with people, we’ll ask if anyone wants to put it on TV," Walliams added.

Last year, the pair were heavily criticised for their use of blackface in Little Britain, and the show was subsequently removed from streaming services such as BBC iPlayer, Netflix and BritBox.

"David and I have both spoken publicly in recent years of our regret that we played characters of other races. Once again we want to make it clear that it was wrong and we are very sorry," Lucas wrote in a statement on Twitter at the time.
