Aquarians are not your average, run of the mill star sign. In fact, they are outliers, eccentrics, visionaries, and innovators. Which is great, though it can be tough when it comes to relationships and romance. They don’t seemingly express emotions, show any enthusiasm for romantic gestures or dates, or even want to spend time with you… But wait! All is not lost.
Aquarians are just a little different to the rest of the zodiac. They need and thrive on having space (acres and acres of it). It doesn’t mean they’re up to no good, just that they have many and varied interests, and their brain needs a lot of stimulus to keep it humming.
Aquarians, to even up the pros with the cons, are honest, humourous, kind, clever and altruistic. They do good in order to feel good. They have global, humanitarian and planetary survival concerns, they care about a lot of stuff, and actually do stuff about it too. Your Aquarius partner might not remember to get you a Valentine’s Day gift, but they’ll take you on a surprise trip to see wild dolphins in the bay, and bring a (vegan) tea for two to have on the beach as the sunsets.
Aquarians dance to their own beat, march to their own drum and live their life on their terms, but they don’t hide this fact or expect you to do everything their way, or even with them. If you like space yourself (hello Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, Capricorn) you might find the zodiac’s Water Bearer to be the perfect partner in love and life.
What are Aquarians looking for in a partner?
Someone who is easygoing and flexible. That really is important because Aquarians are not going to live by your schedule or abide to a routine or expectations. They are hellishly spontaneous. They could literally be anywhere at any given moment, so partners have to go with the flow in practical, day to day scheduling terms.
In terms of personality, partners ideally should be open-minded, honest, socially conscious, curious about the world, dynamic, active and up for anything. Being ready for an adventure at the drop of a hat is a good rule of thumb as to whether an Aquarian partner would suit you, or not. Aquarians are ruled by Uranus which means they’re all also interested in travel, particularly space travel, and if they could get on Elon’s rocket to the moon- they would (although they’d probably have a stiff thing or two to say to Elon, too…). Are you up for that?
Aquarians’ nerves are extremely sensitive around their calves and ankles, so get those boots off them and run your fingers up, down and all around their lower legs. It’s bliss for them.
Aquarians also like adventure, travel and outdoors activity, so buddying on some high-octane expeditions and outdoorsy pursuits will get them to look at you as a physical partner.
Taking an interest in global concerns, politics, social issues and justice will also make them see you as a potential partner in life - not just a romance. They need a sounding board.
Superficiality / vanity. The stereotypical ‘gram influencer bods are NOT for the typical Aquarian. They are looking for authenticity, deeper insights, and a genuine lust for life in all its guises - not just appearances.
Stick-in-the-muds. Those who like to live life on a schedule and have everything in its place will probably not find Aquarius to their liking, nor vice versa. Spontaneity is a key theme for this sign, and those that don’t live that way will soon rub them up the wrong way. They won’t ~get~ your need for organisation or even prior warning.
All the Air signs get along well, so Aquarians, Geminis and Librans are good matches for Aquarius. Their opposite sign is Leo, which means there is an irresistible attraction there, and both signs are very confident and dynamic so sparks certainly fly. Lots of drama in that coupling.
