This lovely lad has been described by the centre as a "sweet boy" who will make a loving companion to any potential new family.

This social Spaniel loves being around others and and has been called a "perfect houseguest" by staff at the Darlington centre.

Despite this, Rex is quite nervous around other dogs and will need to be kept on a lead in public.

Adding to this, the centre have recommended he be the only dog in the house, but said he is suitable to live children aged eight and above.

If you think your home can suit Rex's needs, this loving and cuddly boy would love to meet you and find his forever home.

Badger, Lurcher Cross - 5 to 7 years

This sweet pup has appeared on one of our lists before, sadly, Badger has still yet to be adopted.

Badger has received glowing recommendations from staff at the centre who have described him as a loving and energetic dog.

This canine can be vocal when he sees new dogs so loves walks in quieter areas and can also be worried by new dogs and will need someone who likes gradual socialisation in his new home.

Badger may live in a home with teenagers and will be best suited to a quiet environment.

A very opportunistic boy and a fiend for treats, Badger could make an excellent addition to the right household.

Hamish, Retriever (Labrador) - 1 to 2 years

The Northern Echo:

A very special and unique pup by all accounts, this boy will need an eqaully special and accommodating new home.

Hamish has a neurological condition means he can have some small visible tremors and appears to take a little longer to learn new things

This gorgeous dog has lived a sheltered life according to staff, and as such, finds new things scary and overwhelming at times.

He has started to show interest in toys and will accept the odd stroke when he feels comfortable.

The centre have noted he seems to make more progress with women than men, so will need a female in the household.

They have recommended he be the only pet within the household, but have said he can live teenagers aged 16 and over.

If you believe you can meet Hamish's needs and help him come out of his shell, Dogs Trust Darlington would love to hear from you.

Paddy, Border Collie - 1 to 2 years

The Northern Echo:

This bouncing Border Collie is a high energy boy who will suit those living an active lifestlye.

Described by staff as a "lovely boy" who is "very clever", Paddy loves toys, brain games, and a good session of fetch.

With the aforementioned point, staff have said he will need patient new owners who are willing to do brain games with him and keep him physically and mentally active.

He will need to have his time being left built up as he has never been left alone, and would also need to be in a household with children aged 16 and over.

If you have the energy and want a dog who can keep pace with you, Paddy is a great choice and a potential great companion.

This dynamic duo are best pals and have really brought the confidence out in one another according to the centre.

A package deal, Maxie has beena huge help to Smudge in trusting people and forming good social bonds.

Staff have said that Smudge can be worried by people initially so will require potential adopters to come and meet him and Maxie several times before they will be ready to go to their forever home.

Adding to this, staff have also said the two will be able to live with children aged 16 and over.

Speaking on their bond, a Trust spokesperson said: "Once Smudge has made friends with you he really enjoys coming for a fuss and will happily sit next to you and snuggle in.

"Maxie helps bring out Smudges playful side and they will both love a garden to have the occasional zoom around."

If you believe you can provide these friends a forever home where they can enjoy your and each other's company, don't hesitate to to book in your meeting with them.
