Danielle Lloyd says exploding breast implant almost killed her

Danielle Lloyd has reflected on the horrifying moment her breast implant exploded and nearly killed her as she lost six pints of blood.

Speaking on BBC West Midlands’ The Other Side Of radio show, the glamour model revealed that she had multiple surgeries to correct the botched cosmetic procedure she received back in 2012.

Lloyd said she woke up in a pool of her own blood after her breast implant exploded in the middle of the night, leaving the model in need of emergency surgery.

“I didn’t know what had gone on, but my breast had burst open in the middle of the night and I had to get rushed to hospital,” she said.

“They put me back down into theatre and when they took the implant out they found a blood clot and basically I started to bleed to death.”

The Celebrity Big Brother star then explained that she lost six pints of blood and had to undergo a major transfusion, admitting that she was terrified after waking up from being under anaesthetic.

“I lost six pints of blood and you’ve only got six in your body so I had to have a major transfusion. I didn’t know all this because I was under anaesthetic, but when I came back round I was terrified,” she said.

Lloyd went from a B cup to a D cup after her first surgery, but she was left with AA cups following the emergency procedure – and she claims that the subsequent insecurities she had about her body were partly responsible for the breakdown in her marriage to Jamie O’Hara.

“I think I was just looking for something to make me more confident and I do regret that now,” she said.

“But my boobs were my day job and they made me a lot of money. I had so many surgeries on my breasts. Up, down, big, little, had to have them taken out.”
