Daniel Kaluuya picked up the Best Supporting Actor gong at last night's Academy Awards, for his role in Judas And The Black Messiah. He used his acceptance speech to thank his parents for having sex and conceiving him. Oh wow.

The actor, who was present at the ceremony in LA alongside his mother and sister, took to the podium for the coveted award, after beating the likes of Leslie Odom Jr. and Sacha Baron Cohen to be named winner.

In his acceptance speech, he spoke passionately about Fred Hampton, the American activist he portrays in the movie, as well as the Black Panther Party - the political movement set up by college students in 1966. He then thanked his parents in an unconventional way.

Later, in the winner's room, the 32-year-old was asked about the comment. "Is that gonna live on? I think it’s pretty obvious that all of our parents had sex," he replied. "That just came out of my mouth. My mom’s probably gonna text me some stuff, but here we are.

Turning to someone close, he continued, "Ah, I really shouldn’t have said that — f***," before later joking, "I’m gonna avoid my phone for a bit; I think my mum’s not gonna be very happy. Nah, but she’s gonna be cool. She’s got a sense of humour. We give it to each other. So it’s cool.”
