Damian Hall has broken the long-standing Wainwright’s Coast to Coast record, completing the 185 mile route in a time of 39hrs 18mins 40secs, just 18 minutes quicker than Mike Hartley’s long-standing record, set in 1991.

The route, despite not being recognised as an official long-distance route, sees thousands of walker and runners tackle it each year. It was first mapped by Alfred Wainwright in 1973 and follows a route from St Bees Head on the Cumbrian coast, through three national parks (Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors), to end on the North Yorkshire coast at Robin Hood’s Bay.
