Dame Judi Dench delivered one of the sweetest moments of the Oscars 2022 by arriving on the red carpet arm in arm with her grandson.

The legendary actor, 87, took her grandson and TikTok partner, Sam Williams, to the 94th annual Academy Awards, with the duo linking arms as they walked into the prestigious event.

Dench dressed for the occasion in a white, floor-skimming Dolce and Gabbana silk gown with matching beaded-trimmed jacket and clutch, while her grandson looked dapper in a classic black suit and tie as he posed for images alongside his famous grandmother.

It isn't the first time fans have caught a glimpse of Williams, with fans already familiar with the duo's appearances on TikTok.

Williams has now clocked up a following of more than 236,000 on the platform thanks to the viral videos of Dame Judi’s dance challenges and Guess the Lyrics games.

In the clips the 87-year-old could be seen dancing to Relationship by Young Thug and Cheryl by Yung Gravy in some of the most popular videos.

She also took part in a jokes quiz in which she knew all the answers.

While on Late Night with Seth Meyers in January, Dench reacted to the hilarious TikToks she and Williams made together during the pandemic lockdowns.

Watching the videos for the first time, Dench recalled Williams insisting on "more rehearsal" before posting their final videos, which quickly became a hit with fans on social media.

"He was a tyrant," she said of her grandson's coaching her for perfection.

In July 2020, Dench expressed how important making the TikToks became during the pandemic. "Well it saved my life," she told Channel 4 News.

"I know nothing about TikTok. Sam is the person who is technically minded and who has all the ideas, so he got very strict."

Williams has also become famous for his uncanny resemblance to singer Ed Sheeran, with the pair previously having posed together.

Ahead of the big event Dame Judi's grandson offered a glimpse of his Oscars prep, posting a TikTok of his transition from daywear to dapper.

The video is titled: “Let’s go off to the Oscars!”

At last night's even the veteran actor was nominated for her role as Granny in Belfast, but missed out to West Side Story‘s Ariana DeBose.

Back in 2020 Dame Judi made history as the oldest person to appear on the cover of Vogue at the age of 85.

The historic shoot was said to be important for Dench as it marked her very first Vogue cover.

“[The shoot] meant an awful lot to her,” Dench’s daughter, Finty Williams told British Vogue. “This age thing, I think, affects very much how she feels about herself and this gave her just that little boost of confidence to make her go, ‘Oh, maybe I’m still OK.’

“Then of course after the photoshoot, she came back literally thinking she was Beyoncé.”
