Dakota Johnson was praised by Drew Barrymore for the way in which she handled her awkward interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show which went viral back in 2019.

The 32-year-old actress was appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show when the stars discussed neighbours, during which Johnson revealed she lives next door to Jimmy Kimmel and his wife, whom she described as "great neighbours."

She admitted the only downside to the couple was that "they have a lot of parties and they don't invite me".

Apparently referring to the viral moment between Johnson and DeGeneres, when the latter claimed she hadn't been invited to Johnson's 30th birthday party, Barrymore said: "Is this for real? Because people have gotten in trouble for claiming not being invited to your parties."

Johnson laughed as Barrymore continued: "That was amazing by the way, like, amazing."

The Fifty Shades star lated admitted: "I'm not really a confrontational person."

Johnson had politely corrected Degeneres when the TV host had asked her how her party had been and claimed she hadn't been invited.

"Actually, no, that's not the truth, Ellen. You were invited," Johnson pointed out. "Last time I was on the show last year, you gave me a bunch of s*** about not inviting you, but I didn't even know you wanted to be invited. I didn't even know you liked me!"

DeGeneres had responded: "Of course I like you. You knew I liked you! You've been on the show many times, and don't I show like?"

It was recently reported that The Ellen DeGeneres Show will end after season 19 in 2022.

Johnson will appear next in Maggie Gyllenhaal's directorial debut and adaption of Elena Ferrante's The Lost Daughter for Netflix, out in October.
