If you’re looking for a story to warm your cockles on this chilly Thursday, then look no further.

Last month a British dad launched an appeal to find his severely autistic son an exact replacement for the only sippy cup he will drink from. The appeal went viral with the Internet digging deep to offer the family their own blue cups.

And now Tommee Tippee have stepped in to announce they will be making 500 blue sippy cups for the 14-year-old.

Marc Carter, 42 from Devon first put out his plea last month when his son’s Ben’s cup was on the verge of falling apart. Explaining that Ben had drunk out of this certain cup since he was two-years-old, he said he was at a loss because Tommee Tippee had discontinued that particular style and colour and failing to find a new one could result in serious consequences for Ben’s health.

After the dad shared his plea on Twitter with the hashtag #CupForBen, people all over the world began retweeting it and offering to help.

And though, Ben and his family received six sippy cups with 35 more on the way, Tommee Tippee have upped the ante and announced they are to make 500 new cups especially for Ben.

“They have managed to find the mould of Ben’s little blue cup and they want to make Ben as many cups as he needs,” the dad said on a YouTube video posted to Twitter. https://twitter.com/GrumpyCarer/status/801512409743687680

“It’s a shock and a surprise that they have managed to do this. They have been scouring warehouses and factories to get hold of it.”

Meanwhile, Tommee Tippee also confirmed the news on their Twitter account.

“BIG NEWS: We’re going to manufacture a batch of little blue cups for Ben! ‪#CupForBen,” the wrote.

They have also created a page so people can keep up to date with Ben’s story.

Together the family and Tommee Tippee decided that a batch of 500 cups will be enough.

“I would not be happier if I won the lottery,” the dad told the BBC. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-38141319 “Just knowing he has got these cups gives us peace of mind.”

See we told you. Cockles warmed.
