Customers are asking Tesco to ban people from shopping in pyjamas

We’ve all seen – or been – someone shopping in pyjamas, whether that’s at the cornershop or giant ASDA down the road.

But some customers certainly aren’t happy about it, as they are asking Tesco to consider enforcing a dress code in their stores to stop people walking around in sleepwear.

One man posted on Tesco’s Facebook page to complain about two women he saw wearing dressing gowns and slippers, even posting a photo of them alongside it.

“Dear Tesco, please can you put a rule in place that people like this will not be served in your stores. It’s bloody disgusting,” he said.

“This was at 7pm last night at your Tesco Salford store and I have seen other people dressed similar on a regular basis. I mean who doesn’t have the time to get changed into clothes to go shopping.”

Sure, pyjamas might not be to everyone’s taste, but we’re talking about a Tesco, not a high-end cocktail bar.

And whether you think it’s a bad habit or not, it doesn’t quite warrant this amount of anger – or broadcasting photos of strangers – right?

In response, Tesco clarified that while they’ve been informed of the issue before, there isn’t a formal dress code in place:

“Many of our customers have told us that they feel uncomfortable when they see other shoppers wearing unsuitable clothing in our stores and we do try to find a balance that everyone is happy with,” the store wrote.

“Although we don’t have a formal dress code in our stores, we rely on our management team to use their discretion and common sense”.
