Great news for fans of nail-bitingly tense game shows - because ITV has announced that The Cube is returning.
Last year we were treated to the The Cube’s Million Pound specials, but 2021 sees the return of the win £250,000 for successfully completing a number of challenges.
Phillip Schofield is back in charge of proceedings, as is the mysterious white-suited lady and the perspex box of doom. ITV has announced the new six-part series will be on air later this year, with two celebrity specials in the run too.
The format is the same, with each team given nine lives to complete seven challenges, wining more money as the games get increasingly difficult, up to the big prize of £250,000. But it’s not as easy as it looks - each challenge is extremely deceptive.
"It was such a treat to be back in the studio last year, with the pairs of contestants adding a whole new twist on the drama inside the box," says Phillip. "This series you’ll see a whole new side to The Cube… get ready to be on the edge of your sofas!"
In a new twist for 2021, ITV has announced that as well as the solo challenges we know and love, they’re introducing two-player games to up the stakes even more. What’s even more exciting is that if you fancy taking part, casting for the show is still taking place. You can apply here.
Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment Commissioning at ITV said: "The Cube remains a firm favourite with our viewers and with the brilliant Phillip Schofield at the helm, it's guaranteed to be another great series packed with drama, tension and entertainment."
