COVID LIVE Updates: NZ announces lockdown over one case; Australian state bans people from removing masks to drink outdoors
New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced a nationwide lockdown after the country confirmed one coronavirus case – the first locally transmitted Covid-19 case in the community since February.
Meanwhile, India reported 25,166 fresh COVID-19 cases today, 23.5 percent lower than the number of cases reported on Monday. The death toll has risen to 4,32,079 with 437 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the data from the Union Health Ministry.
The US eased travel advisory for India to its second-lowest level of “exercise increased caution” after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) claimed that India now has a “moderate level of Covid-19. “Your risk of contracting COVID-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA authorised vaccine. Before planning any international travel, please review the CDC’s specific recommendations for vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers,” the state department said on Monday.
