This week marks 27 years since the very first episode of Friends premiered on TV. Yep, way back when in September 1994 the show arrived on screens and, even though most of us were still in nappies at the time, we've been hooked on the show ever since. To celebrate the special occasion, Courteney Cox, who plays Monica Gellar on the hit show, shared a major throwback.

Taking to her Instagram Story, Courteney posted a clip of herself with very season-one-Monica-hair, and captioned it: "27 years ago... when it all started #Friends."

The clip in question is from her 1994 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In the video, she tells the host that Friends is "about six unique characters that are all friends. It's really a truly situational comedy — just the different situations they get into."

At the time, Courteney, along with her costars Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt Le Blanc, had no idea how big the show would become. And, two decades after the series first aired, the group came together earlier this year for a reunion special.

Speaking about the reunion, Courteney told People: "I was flooded with 10 years of irreplaceable memories." She also revealed how the cast were like "lightening in a bottle" when they worked together, adding "it's so rare to have that kind of writing and that kind of chemistry between six people."

BRB, just off to binge all 10 seasons, again.
