The women’s England Hockey team beat Australia 2-1 in Birmingham, giving them a historic win with their first ever gold medal.

Sophie Wessex is patron of England Hockey and shared a clip of the winning moment of the game, with the crowds cheering the landmark win.

The Countess has also been supporting various teams in person from the stands at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Sophie recently joined the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the Games alongside Princess Charlotte, to watch the action.

The event was the Princess’ first solo outing with her parents and she was photographed watching games from the stands as well as meeting an energetic mascot.

Princess Charlotte wore a nautical style black and white dress for the occasion with a Peter Pan collar, while the Duchess stunned in a chic all-white suit and Prince William opted for a navy shirt and blazer.
