LONDON (Reuters) -Europe's major airlines including Lufthansa and Air France-KLM are expected to report another quarter dragged down by rising costs and limited planes, with no sign of delivery delays from planemakers Boeing and Airbus improving any time soon. While demand has remained stable, costs for maintenance, adverse weather, air traffic control issues and disruption in the Middle East have continued to weigh on carriers. Lufthansa Chief Executive Carsten Spohr warned the airline is now expecting a five-year delay on its Boeing 777X deliveries.

Philips' deteriorating China sales send shares tumbling 16%
AMSTERDAM (Reuters) -Philips said on Monday that demand in China slumped significantly in recent months, forcing the Dutch medical devices maker to lower its sales outlook for the year and sending its shares down 16%. The company said it had been hit by a deterioration of consumer confidence in China and by an ongoing state-led anti-corruption campaign there which dragged down orders from Chinese hospitals. "That compounded effect showed a strong decline in China and a further deterioration versus also what we expected in July," Chief Executive Roy Jakobs told reporters.
