Costa is offering customers free food and drink as it reopens stores across the UK.

In March, it was announced that Costa had closed all of its stores in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Four months on, the firm is planning to reopen more than 2,000 of its sites by the end of July.

To welcome back customers to its stores and drive-through cafes, Costa is offering patrons the chance to enjoy a free handcrafted drink or food item.

From Monday 6 July, when diners register with the Costa Coffee Club mobile app, they will receive 300 complimentary points, the equivalent of £3.

With these points, they will be able to purchase a free drink or a item of food for the same amount.

The offer is available for all customers to use, whether they are already members of Costa Coffee Club or not.

If you are a new customer, you will need to download and register with the Costa Coffee Club mobile app.

If you are an existing customer, you will need to download the app and log in with your existing registered username and password, where you will find the points already added to your account.

Once customers have registered with the Costa Coffee Club mobile app and received their 300 points, the points will be available to use for 12 months.

Neil Lake, managing director of Costa Coffee UK and Ireland, said the firm has been “overwhelmed by the positive feedback” from customers as Costa reopens its doors.

“As we near our next key milestone of 2000+ store re-openings by the end of July, we’re delighted to treat Costa Coffee fans to a handcrafted drink, on us,” he said.

“To ensure both our customers and team members are safe we have introduced some new measures across our estate, while also maintaining the warm environment that we know they have been missing.”

Costa outlines that the promotion is available for customers aged 16 and over.

Costa Coffee Club members can make their orders through the mobile app, meaning they don’t have to wait in line when they enter the store.
