Flavoured coffees are the dream. Salted caramel mocha? Yes please. Gingerbread latte? There’s nothing better. A little shot of vanilla in your cappuccino? You’d be crazy not to. But how do you feel about Coca Cola flavoured coffee?
It shouldn’t really seem that weird, but we just can’t get our heads around it right now. Maybe it’s the idea of it being a hot Coke-flavoured drink. I like my Coke icy cold, thank you very much.
Well, if you can get your head around hot Cola and you live in China, you can give Costa’s new Coca Cola coffee range a go for yourself.
The coffee brand's China locations released two new drinks with a cola twist in May as part of its summer range: a Coca Cola flavoured latte and a Coca Cola cappuccino.
Plus, from July, there will be a Cold Brew version on the menu too, which actually sounds pretty good because you can get it served with ice.
When describing the new Coca Cola cold brew, a Costa Coffee Spokesperson said: “The familiar crisp taste of the classic Coca Cola complements the smooth mellow coffee flavours found in our Cold Brew coffee. When served over ice, this is a truly refreshing summer drink.”
Maybe it's not so much of a surprise that this has happened seeing as Coca Cola bought Costa in 2018 for £3.9 billion.
Tyla drew our attention to this, erm, interesting Costa launch after the publication saw that Costa had advertised it on its Linked In page.
The full range is available in Costa’s across China, but there’s no plans to launch it in the UK just yet, but we’ll let you know if that changes and you can make up your own minds if you want to get it a whirl.
