PRINT COMPETITION TERMS & CONDITIONS
Open to UK residents aged 18 and over. To enter please post three images on your Instagram feed, which must be publicly visible by using an Instagram account which is set to public, tagging @CosmopolitanUK and using the hashtag #cosmophotocomp. All entrants warrant that their entry is their own work and does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. Entries in the incorrect format will not be considered. This competition opens on 31st August at 10:00 and closes at 17:30 on 4th October. Answers received after the closing date will not be considered. The prize is an opportunity to photograph a fashion editorial, alongside a team organised by Cosmopolitan, which will be featured in a print edition of Cosmopolitan UK. A shortlist will be selected by a judging panel, including Amy Bannerman and EIC Claire Hodgson, from the entries received and will be selected at the panel’s sole discretion. The shortlist will be contacted for interview with the Cosmopolitan team and the winner will be selected after the interviews have taken place.
The winner must be available for a minimum of one day for a photoshoot in the UK (date and location to be decided by Hearst and informed to the winner). Travel on the day of the shoot along with x1 night stay of accommodation if necessary, will be arranged and paid for by Hearst as well as all shoot expenses. The shoot and equipment, including camera, will be arranged and fully funded by Hearst. The winner may also be required for a pre and/or post shoot briefing, to be arranged if deemed necessary by Hearst, once the winner has been confirmed. Hearst, at its sole discretion, may require the winner to re-shoot.
The winner will be required to sign a Hearst standard agreement in respect of copyright and intellectual property in images and content created at the shoot. This is the standard form used when commissioning photographers for creating content for the magazine. This contract is available on request to entrants.
Each Winner shall cooperate with Hearst and execute such documents as Hearst may reasonably require to achieve the objectives of the editorial.
Cosmopolitan's brand ethos is to promote positive messages to our readers and entrants for the Cosmopolitan Photographer competition should follow the same philosophy promoting responsible messages about relationships, body image, diversity, sexuality and mental health.
Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these Terms and to have agreed to be bound by them.
This competition is not open to any employees of Hearst Magazines, the promoter or their immediate families, the promoter’s advertising agency and sales promotion consultancy, or anyone else connected with the creation and administration of the competition.
Only one competition entry, fulfilling the eligibility requirements above, will be accepted per person. Multiple entries will be disqualified.
Once selected, the shortlisted entrants will be contacted personally by Instagram Direct Message to the Instagram account that was used to enter the competition. The shortlist will have 48 hours (starting from the time the Direct Message is sent) to confirm their availability for interview. After all the interviews have taken place the winner will be contacted over email or Instagram Direct Message and will have 48 hours to confirm their availability and accept the prize. If the winner does not accept a prize within this deadline or cannot comply with these Terms, Hearst reserves the right to offer the prize to runner(s)-up selected by the same judges. Once the prize is accepted by the winner the runners-up from the shortlist will be contacted to inform them that they did not win the competition post interview.
It is assumed that the winner will be able to gain the permission of their employer for any time off work which is required to claim the prize. Hearst Magazines or the third party are not liable in any way to any winner who cannot attend.
Given the uncertainty that COVID-19 presents we appreciate the winner’s flexibility. Hearst reserves the right to cancel or rearrange the shoot. The winner will be required to follow the most up to date Hearst UK COVID-19 Shoot Guidelines in accepting the prize and carrying out the shoot.
Hearst Magazines’ decision is final in every situation, including any not covered above and no correspondence will be entered into in respect of the validity of any such decision.
Hearst Magazines shall be permitted to exclude or disqualify any entrant at any time at its sole discretion.
Hearst Magazines reserves the right to exclude late, incomplete or multiple registrations, or registrations made by third parties or agents.
Hearst Magazines does not accept any responsibility for late or lost entries. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.
The name of the winner(s) will be available by sending a stamped addressed envelope to House of Hearst, 30 Panton Street, London SW1Y 4AJ, indicating the name of the competition.
Entry to the competition and acceptance of the prize constitutes permission to use any entrant’s name, image and any competition entry photograph, for promotional and/or editorial purposes in any format in print and non-print media without additional consultation.
No purchase is necessary. Once entered, entries cannot be returned / withdrawn. Spammers will be disqualified
Prizes must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred although Hearst Magazines reserve the right to change the prize in the event of unforeseen circumstances. There will be no cash alternative.

Hearst Magazines reserves the right to (i) cancel and/or withdraw this competition and/or (ii) amend these Terms, at any time without notice.
Where Hearst Magazines runs a competition with a promoter such that the promoter is responsible for the selection and/or the provision of prizes then Hearst Magazines shall not be responsible for or have any liability for the provision of such prizes.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will Hearst Magazines be liable, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, for any loss, damage or injury arising under or in connection with this competition.
These Terms are governed by English law, and entrants agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts in relation to all matters arising under or in connection with these Terms.
