Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has hinted that Tim Metcalfe could finally turn against his villainous father Geoff.

New spoiler pictures show Tim in a tense conversation with Geoff (Ian Bartholomew) after the latest family rows between the Metcalfes.

Next week's episodes see Tim find out that Geoff has behaved badly in a new argument with Sally (Sally Dynevor).

When Tim discovers the shocking details of how Geoff spoke to Sally, he starts to lose some sympathy with his scheming father.

Tim is adamant that he's fed up with being piggy in the middle when it comes to Geoff's war with Sally.

As a result, Tim and Sally decide to get away from the tense situation on the cobbles.

Tim explains that he and Sally will be going to stay with Sally's sister Gina Seddon for a while.

This is bad news for Geoff, as Tim is one of the only people who has been prepared to defend him in recent months.

With few other allies left on the street, could Geoff be in trouble as the fightback against him continues? As Yasmeen's trial gets closer, her supporters certainly won't be making life easy for him.

Joe Duttine, who plays Tim, recently told Inside Soap: "Remember that Tim isn't aware of what the rest of the nation knows about Geoff.

"Tim only reacts to the interactions he has with his dad, and he doesn't want to believe that he could do anything wrong. Some families have to close ranks and protect their own, which is what Tim is doing. But I think Tim is starting to feel as if something isn't quite right."

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, August 17 at 7.30pm on ITV.
