Coronation Street's Sally Metcalfe suspects Geoff is lying over Elaine

From Digital Spy

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Sally Metcalfe continues to oppose Geoff tonight (July 31), fearing that he has been lying to Tim for all his life.

Sally (Sally Dynevor) is intrigued when she hears about newcomer Elaine Jones, who has arrived in Weatherfield and introduced herself as Tim's long-lost mother.

In Friday's episode, Geoff (Ian Bartholomew) is nervous as a confused Tim quizzes him on Elaine's recent visit to Street Cars.

Geoff knows this doesn't sound good, but sticks to the false story he has always used – his first wife died years ago and his second wife Tess was Tim's biological mother.

Once again, Tim (Joe Duttine) believes Geoff and promises to report Elaine to the police for harassing him if he ever sees her again.

Later, the troubling situation is clearly still on Tim's mind as he tells Sally what happened.

Tim believes that Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) could have recruited Elaine to mess with everyone's heads – a theory first floated by Geoff – but Sally thinks this doesn't make sense.

Before long, Sally starts to wonder whether Tim's knowledge of his family history is all a lie – but how will he feel about her doubting Geoff?

Meanwhile, Alya is relieved when Elaine (Paula Wilcox) agrees to meet her in Speed Daal after the place has closed for the evening.

Alya once again urges Elaine to stick around and testify at Yasmeen's upcoming trial, pointing out how much of a crucial witness she is. As Elaine remains torn over what to do, Alya has a tough fight on her hands to improve Yasmeen's chances in court.

Coronation Street airs tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
