A terrifying ordeal lies ahead for Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) in tonight’s Coronation Street, as she finds herself in mortal danger.
The ITV soap, which airs at 8pm, has already seen Kelly discover that her trusted guardian Gary Windass (Mikey North) murdered her father Rick. This led to the teen paying her kidnapper to kill Gary in revenge as she planned to flee abroad.
Gary was taken to the very same woods where he had delivered the fatal blow before burying Rick’s body. Knowing that her mum Laura (Kel Allen) had made a false confession of guilt to the police, Kelly was out for blood over Gary’s web of lies.
Rick's dodgy former associate Kieron Edgerton (Pat Lally) and his right hand man ordered Gary to dig his own grave as they aimed a gun at him, all while Kelly remained at her engagement party with fiancé Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain). But Kelly soon had second thoughts and called off the hit.
Kieron left Gary in the company of his crony and set off to find Kelly; and Gary gained the upper hand as he attacked the other man with a shovel and escaped in a panic.
At a hotel with Aadi, Kelly took a call from Kieron who instructed her to meet him. Kelly complied, only to be grabbed and shoved into a van - she was now the intended target.
As Coronation Street returns tonight, will Kelly be rescued? We can’t give everything away, but the show is pulling out all the stops as these scenes were filmed using Volume Wall technology to create a Manchester city scape backdrop.
This week also marks star Gibson's exit. With that in mind, it’s certainly possible that Kelly could be killed off.
Gary is set to make contact with Aadi, alerting him to the fact that Kelly’s life is at risk. The pair track her phone and head off in pursuit, while Kieron leads Kelly to an abandoned building and takes her onto the roof. He reveals his plan to kill her and frame her for Gary’s murder in the process.
As Kelly fears for her life, Gary and Aadi arrive and spot Kieron’s van. Just as Kieron prepares to push Kelly off the roof, Gary appears and pleads to take her place. At that moment, a gun goes off. Who has been shot? Will Gary pay the ultimate price for his crimes, or is it Kelly who takes the bullet?
