Coronation Street star Sam Aston hints at I'm a Celebrity interest

Coronation Street star Sam Aston is "open to the idea" of doing I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Previously, Corrie actor Andy Whyment was runner-up on I'm a Celeb in 2019, while another of the soap's stars, Jennie McAlpine, finished fourth on the reality TV show in 2017.

Their stints on the jungle-based reality competition series have left 28-year-old Sam, who has played Chesney Brown in the ITV soap since landing the role as a child in 2003, open to reality show appearances himself.

"I've always said no to all of those shows, but then recently for some reason I've been more open to the idea," Sam told OK! Online. "Jennie and Andy did the jungle and both of them said it's the experience of a lifetime.

"If I was offered it I would be open to the idea and open to the extra pennies!"

However, he also admitted he is uneasy at the thought of being away from his wife Briony Gardner and young son Sonny, who was born in August 2020.

He explained: "The idea of going to Australia and not having any contact whatsoever with my family makes me quite uncomfortable."

With this year's series set to return to Wales due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, rather than going back Down Under, it might increase Sam's chances of a stint on this year's I'm a Celeb.
