Corrie legend Helen Worth, known for her iconic role as Gail Platt, is rumoured to be swapping the cobbles for the dance floor or even the jungle following her surprise announcement that she's leaving the soap after an impressive 50-year stint.

The 73 year old actress left fans in shock this week when she revealed her plans to say goodbye to Weatherfield. The soap's producers have promised viewers an "emotional" exit and a "major storyline" for Gail as she prepares to depart at the end of the year.

But the buzz has quickly shifted to what's next for Helen. Betting experts at BetIdeas are already placing bets on Helen's next move, with odds at 8/1 for her to strut her stuff on Strictly Come Dancing and 10/1 for her to brave the Aussie wilderness on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! over on ITV, reports the Mirror.

She's also tipped to potentially enter the Celebrity Big Brother house. Reflecting on her decision to leave, Helen shared: "This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world."

"I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding. I have been truly blessed to have been given the most incredible scripts week in week out, and to have worked with fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew. The past 50 years have flown by and I don't think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet."

Gail has become a true icon of Weatherfield, and has been at the heart of some major plots. The character is mum to three of the Cobbles' mainstays - Nick Tilsley, Sarah Barlow, and David Platt.

Just last month, the Mirror reported that Strictly chiefs are reportedly struggling to recruit female stars this year, amidst the controversy surrounding pro dancer Giovanni Pernice.

Speculation is rife about what Helen Worth might do after leaving Corrie, and bookies are even weighing in on how Gail might make her dramatic exit. While the Corrie writers are keeping quiet about the details, the betting world reckons Gail could meet a grisly end, with Joel Deering pegged as the likely culprit by BettingSites at odds of 1/2.

The odds are also suggesting that Gail might tie the knot once more, offering a 4/1 chance she'll walk down the aisle for a sixth time before her departure. And for those hoping Helen might stick around, there's a 5/1 chance she'll pull a U-turn and stay on the show.

Plus, at 7/1, there's a possibility Helen could be back on the Cobbles within a year of saying goodbye. BettingSites' Andy Newton muses, "So, if Platt is to be killed off - who will be the murderer? ".

"Our experts are pricing up proven killer Joel Deering, who has already bumped-off Lauren Bolton, as the big favourite at just 1/2 to be the one to send Gail into the Corrie wilderness. However, with 50 years on the show and six unsuccessful marriages, there are many other candidates that might want Gail dead - including son David, Nathan Curtis, who has a history tormenting her family - or don't rule out 'back-from-the dead' (it's been done before) Richard Hillman returning for revenge at 50/1 - now what a Corrie climax that would be."
