Coronation Street fans have their eyes peeled for every detail and a few eagle-eyed fans have noticed an interesting change on the set that might hint at how Gail Rodwell (played by Helen Worth) will exit the show later this year. Back in June, it was revealed that the Corrie legend would be saying goodbye to her role after an impressive 50-year stint. As fans grappled with the loss of such an icon, they were left pondering how the soap's writers would manage to write out such a significant character. Originally, the plan was to bring back her ex-husband Martin Platt (Sean Wilson).

However, after returning to the set and filming scenes, Sean was abruptly removed from production due to 'personal reasons'. With scripts quickly revised, his role will now be taken over by comedian and actor John Thomson, who is making a comeback as Jesse Chadwick after a 14-year hiatus. Despite these changes, we're hoping that executive producer Iain Macleod will stick to his promise of a 'happy ending' for Gail. “Gail won't die. It didn't feel like killing her off would be right,” he shared with the Daily Star. “Gail's exit is a brilliant story, I thought what do viewers want to see? [She] has had a hard life. She had a difficult childhood and some disastrous marriages. So, we thought what viewers really want is a happy ending for her, so that's what we're doing.”

One thing that seems certain is that Gail will be putting up a 'For Sale' sign in the coming weeks ahead of her grand Weatherfield farewell.

Coronation Street 's Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Dee-Dee Bailey, has revealed that the iconic No. 8 Coronation Street is up for sale, as seen in a behind-the-scenes snap on her Instagram story.

She captioned the late-night shoot with: “Nothing like a night shoot to make you regret dancing until 2am”, accompanied by a crying emoji.

The house has been home to the Platt family since 1991 when newlyweds Gail and Martin moved from 33 Hammond Road, another location in the fictional town.

Gail held onto the property until 2013 when she sold it to her son David (Jack P. Shepherd) and his wife Kylie (Paula Lane).

Fans of the ITV soap will recall that cunning Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) bought all the properties on one side of the street in 2021, intending to demolish and redevelop the area into a commercial, leisure and residential space.

When his criminal activities were exposed, his assets were transferred to Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney), who put everything he owned up for sale. There was a tense bidding war between David and his neighbours, the McDonalds, over who would buy No. 8 but Gail ended up placing the winning bid at auction.

The reasons why she decides to sell the house are yet to be revealed, but we do know that this storyline will unfold in the coming weeks.

Channique's sombre picture quickly caught the attention of fans online, with one commenting: “Gail's put her house up for sale!”
