Coronation Street fans confused by ITV announcer as acid attack story airs

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street fans were left confused after a bizarre mix-up from the ITV announcer involving the content warnings of tonight's hour-long episode.

In the episode, which aired on Monday, March 27, Justin (Andrew Still) was the culprit of an acid attack as he tried to assault Daisy after previously stalking her. However, Ryan (Ryan Prescott) jumped in the way and took the full force of the acid.

The ITV1 announcer warned viewers of a "shocking and violent attack" before the episode started but there was no attack in part one of the episode. Then, there was no warning before parts two and three of the episode, which had the most harrowing scenes.

Then, to make things even more confusing, the announcer repeated the "shocking and violent attack" warning just before part four started — even though the acid attack had already happened.

This led to confusion among Corrie viewers on Twitter.

"The TV announcers a bit late with that warning surely???!!!" wrote one viewer, while another said: "Surely the announcer messed up by saying there would be distressing and violent scenes after it had already happened?"

The sentiment was shared by plenty of other fans, too: "Bit late for the warning itv1 announcer?" said one confused viewer. And another added: "What, another attack? I feel that announcer warning was a tad too late."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
