Eastenders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale have all announced that their upcoming episodes will drop as "box sets" online due to Euro 2021.

The football tournament will see all three soaps move into sporadic timeslots throughout the upcoming weeks, making it difficult for fans to keep track and watch live.

To counteract this, the BBC and ITV have both announced that they will therefore drop the shows weekly in a "binge watch" box sex online, allowing fans to watch when they can.

EastEnders, which airs on the BBC, were first to make the announcement on Monday, with ITV following suit with their two staple shows on Tuesday.

EastEnders producer Jon Sen said: “Giving EastEnders viewers the ability to decide when they drop in on all things Albert Square is something we’re excited about.

“With the inevitable scheduling changes due to the Euros, something we’ll be celebrating in Walford on-screen, box setting all four episodes will ensure everyone gets their dose of drama and football fans won’t miss out.”

Iain MacLeod, producer of Coronation Street, said: “Given how exciting the stories are, it’s great that fans will have the chance to binge-watch all the episodes on ITV Hub at the start of each week – as with football, sometimes when it’s an exciting face-off, you really want extra time.”

The new move comes as major plotlines reach their climax over all three fictional soap worlds - starting with Kim Tate (Claire King) attempting to discover who has been secretly poisoning her on Emmerdale.

Meanwhile Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) is beginning to fear that her cancer has returned.

Over on Coronation Street, three couples prepare to go to war after being hurt in their relationships.

Paul (Peter Ash) and Todd (Gareth Pierce) are both vying for Billy’s (Daniel Brocklebank) affections, while Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and Tyrone (Alan Halsall) are set for a custody battle for their girls, following his affair with Alina (Ruxandra Porojnicu).
